Easter is so important in the Church’s liturgy that eight days of solemnities are given to celebrate the Resurrection.

This is because with the Lord’s Resurrection comes our hope of eternal life in Him and our joy! In a marvellous manner, through the same power at work in the hearts of Christians, Jesus arose from the dead on that first Easter morning and the world hasn’t been the same since.

Easter brings us hope, that no matter how bad things are in life, there is always time for a new start.

Indeed Edith Stein (St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross), an intellectual Jew who converted to Christianity, and who became an enclosed nun dying in a concentration camp, said that we must begin every day as if it were a new life.

God is indeed a God of patience and mercy, He is a God of second chances and in some cases of many chances (the Sacrament of Reconciliation is such a gift to us).

On the second Sunday of Easter, we celebrate in the Church, the great feast of Divine Mercy. This came from the mission and writings of St Faustina.

St Faustina’s Diary (a Polish nun who lived in the 20′s and 30′s) is bursting full of information for us on God’s merciful love, through His Revelations to her.
